The ReThink and ReUse Center, Inc., a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization, is a reusable resource center. Annually the center collects and redistributes over 20,000 pounds of clean and safe materials for reuse by children to effectively optimize each child’s learning potential through exploratory play.  The “Play is Learning” Program provides workshops to primarily pre-school aged children and their parents and teachers, and staff of non-profit organizations to learn how and why play lays the foundation for early understanding of math, science, literacy, problem solving and creative thinking. Workshops are led by Early Childhood Resource Specialists in English, Spanish, and Creole if requested.

Materials for the ReThink and ReUse Center come primarily from local businesses and manufacturers who generate an abundance of solid waste products: overruns, discontinued items, rejects, obsolete parts, packaging waste. Families also collect and donate items such as bottle caps to help young children learn to reduce, reuse and recycle.

The ReThink and ReUse Center encourages preservation of the environment by providing local companies and families the opportunity to work together to promote community-wide ecological responsibility and meaningful learning experiences for young children birth-5 using environmentally friendly and innovative solutions.
