materialResearch has proven that the PLAY process is exceptionally powerful in the stimulation of learning.

One of the most effective ways to spark brain growth is through a hands-on experience using materials with no pre-determined use.

Commercial ice cream cartons, wood pieces, feathers, bottle caps, and PVC pipe end cuts, yards of colorful fabric and more items every day are available at the ReUse Center. See our age appropriate programs for free group sessions that demonstrate how to choose materials and guide children in their creative play.

Teens Building: Building interesting projects with the ReThink and ReUse Center's materials helps teens learn to work as a team, develop concrete examples to math or science problems, and enhance their ability to find creative solutions to perceived obstacles.

The teens building workshops can be tailored to specific interests from building bridges and ships to "green" fashion shows or decorative items.

teacherTeacher Training educates caregivers, teachers and families on how to use reusable materials to promote cost effective use of available resources.

Understanding the process of how children learn through hands-on play is critical to providing stimulating age appropriate activities for children.

The ReThink and ReUse Center’s “Play is Learning” program provides educational and participatory training to staff working with children in Miami-Dade County. Teaching staff learn to use materials from the ReThink and ReUse Center in creative, developmentally appropriate, and environmentally sensitive learning play-based learning activities to enhance school readiness skills for all children.

They expand their knowledge of strategies of extending the interests of the children, documentation techniques and environmental consciousness.

Materials are collected by and stored at the ReThink and ReUse Center’s facility.  The materials are available at a tremendous cost savings for teachers.
